The New York State Government passed the Smart Schools Bond Act in the 2014-15 State Budget which was approved by the voters in a statewide referendum held during the 2014 General Election on Tuesday, November 4, 2014.

    These funds were approved to be utilized by school districts for the following specific projects including;

    1.       The installation of high-speed broadband or wireless internet connectivity

    2.       The purchase of learning technology equipment to be used in the classrooms such as interactive whiteboards, computer servers, desktops, laptops or mobile tablets.

    3.       Construct, enhance, and modernize educational facilities to accommodate prekindergarten programs.

    4.       Install high-tech security features in school buildings and on school campuses

    As a result, the Elmont School District’s allocation is $2,267,378.00

    It is the intention of the Elmont UFSD to utilize these bond funds for the enhancement of our wireless infrastructure and introduce mobile device technology to further enhance and enrich the educational experience for all our students.

    The link below contains the District’s Smart Bond Investment Plan, which outlines the implementation process. The plan was approved by the Board of Education during their regular meeting on Monday, February 1, 2016.
