    Principal’s Message

“I continue to believe that if children are given the necessary tools to succeed, they will succeed beyond their wildest dreams.”  - D. Vitter, U.S. Senator

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

It is my honor to serve as the principal of the Alden Terrace School!  I would like to personally welcome you to the Alden Terrace Elementary School family.  On behalf of the faculty and staff, I’d like to welcome you to this new school year and hope that your years with us will be academically, socially and emotionally rewarding for your child and rewarding for you as well.

We are pleased to have you as partners in the educational process and look forward to working together with parents, families and the community.  It is a joint partnership and obligation for us (Administrators/Teachers & Parents/Families) to make sure that we do all that we can to encourage our children to be respectful, caring students, socially responsible citizens, academically successful students that are enthusiastic about learning and enjoy school.  I believe that we will enjoy a positive, successful and collaborative relationship.

As the year progresses and you have questions or concerns, we encourage you to call the school and talk with those who might be of help.  If your question deals with in-class events, please speak with the teacher.  Teachers should be your first line of contact. If it deals with an overall program, please contact Mrs. Warfield or Mr. García.

Classes start at 8:05am and dismissal occurs at 2:25pm daily.  If your child rides a school bus, be sure that you know his/her bus color.  Place the bus pass in an easily accessible zipper compartment in their school bag.  Encourage your walker to go directly home after school is dismissed.  Scholars are not to linger on the basketball courts.  Scholars will not be permitted to remain on school grounds directly after school unless supervised by their parent or guardian.

We are happy to welcome back our continuing scholars and extend a warm welcome to those that are new.  I look forward to working with each and every one of you.  The faculty and staff along with myself will do our utmost to help your child experience academic, social and emotional success here at the Alden Terrace Elementary School.

    Sincerely,

    Shawnée Warfield,                                                                 Wellinthon García,

    Principal                                                                                 Assistant Principal
