The 2017-2018 school year presents the exciting challenge and opportunity of preparing our students for a bright future that includes success in college and a career of their choice.New York State has adopted the Common Core Learning Standards in Literacy and Mathematics for students in kindergarten through grade 12 in 2010. The new standards integrate the literacy and mathematics standards across all disciplines. Students will listen, read, write, and participate in discussions in social studies, science, the visual and performing arts, technology and health and physical education. The Common Core Standards curriculum will challenge our students to think critically and analytically. The adoption of the Common Core Standards is part of a national effort to improve education and prepare students with the content and skills necessary to be successful in college and a future career. The District has aligned the Curriculum Maps to the New York State Common Core Standards. Elmont administrators and teachers will continue to review, revise, and develop curriculum that prepares our students to meet and exceed the new standards. We are immensley proud of the many accomplishments of our students and staff. All six elementary schools are in GOOD STANDING during the 2017-2018 school year.We welcome your involvement and feedback as we continue to meet challenges of the new school year.
