Grants take education further in Elmont

Elmont School District is the recipient of two $100,000 State and Municipal Facilities Grants. Sen. Todd Kaminsky nominated Elmont for a grant for renovations and facility repairs that would benefit the students and staff of Dutch Broadway School. The district utilized these funds to replace old, worn tile flooring and replaced it with vinyl-enhanced flooring throughout Dutch Broadway School.

The new flooring is safer and more aesthetically pleasing in the classroom environments. Prior administration had also nominated Elmont for a grant, which sought to improve wireless technology for students.

With these funds, the district was able to expand on its wireless technology environment and purchase the necessary equipment that laid the groundwork for Elmont’s 1:1 mobile device initiative. “Elmont School District is always seeking ways to enhance our student experience, while minimizing any potential tax impact to our residents,” Superintendent of Schools Al Harper said. “Grants such as these are invaluable to our students, and we are grateful for the support of our local senator.”
