Green Screens Engage Students at Gotham

Fourth graders in Kathryn Cartwright’s class at Gotham Avenue School have been utilizing a green screen to bring their unit on animal adaptations and habitats to life. As part of this project, each student created an imaginary planet, including a consumer and a producer (animal) that could survive on it. After taking their designs to art class and constructing their animals, they used green screens to superimpose themselves on their planets and bring it all to life. Lessons such as this work to integrate art, technology, science and writing while fostering creativity and collaboration.
