As part of an eight-week mindfulness pilot program at Stewart Manor School, fifth graders in Therese Irving’s class were visited by Yoga Nanda instructor Sharon Persky for activities on trust.
Persky led the students in trust-building activities, starting with a Partner Walk. One student was asked to shut his or her eyes, while the other was tasked with guiding that student safely throughout the classroom. The students also sat in a circle, with their eyes closed once again, and had to pass around a cup filled with water without spilling.
The activities asked the students to trust both themselves and others.
