Ballroom Dancing at Alden Terrace

All fourth and fifth grade students at Alden Terrace School are participating in a 10-week ballroom dancing unit as part of their physical education classes. A variety of dances are taught, including meringue, polka, rumba, salsa, swing/jive, tango and waltz.

The classes are led by Alison Armbruster, with the assistance of gym teacher Jerone Pettus and literacy teacher Justine Periera, through Dancing Classrooms Long Island.

The school plans to host a Dancing with the Scholars event in March to show parents what the students have learned. Additionally, six dancing teams will be chosen to perform at a competition in May by the resident Dancing Coordinator, Principal Shawnée Warfield and Assistant Principal Dr. Wellinthon Garcia.
