Students in grades K-2 at Dutch Broadway School honored Dr. Seuss’ birthday, which falls on March 2, with fun activities on Feb. 28.
Teachers and parents participated in the celebration by reading aloud one of Dr. Seuss’ books to a class. Assistant principals Cynthia Qasim and Brendan Alfieri joined in, reading aloud “The Cat in the Hat” and “Ten Apples Up On Top,” respectively. Students created “The Cat in the Hat” hats to wear, snacked on Swedish fish candy in honor of “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish,” and participated in writing activities that asked, “If you could meet Dr. Seuss, what would you say to him?”
Assistant Principal Alfieri said part of what makes the Dr. Seuss celebration so special is that it focuses on reading aloud to students.
