Full Week of In-Person Instruction Coming to Elmont

Elmont Union Free School District recently announced that it will be offering five full days of in-person instruction to students in grades K-6, while still maintaining a safe and socially distant environment. This is slated to begin on Oct. 5 and is only being offered to hybrid model students.

The updated reentry plan has been vetted by the district’s health and safety team, which includes the Nassau BOCES Health and Safety Adviser Dan Holtzer. The new plan also continues to abide by guidance from the CDC, the NYS Department of Health and the Nassau County Health Department.

Students and staff throughout the district are required to wear masks when in the buildings, aside from scheduled mask breaks for students throughout the day. Desks are also kept 6 feet apart in classrooms.

“This is an essential part of the reentry plan,” Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Rosner said. During the summer months, Rosner offered Zoom sessions to the local community, where he discussed his hopes to possibly add more days of in-person instruction for the hybrid students.
