On Oct. 9, Stewart Manor School’s virtual students and their families were invited to decorate the sidewalks during the Chalk the Walk event.
Upon arrival, students received their own personal bag of chalk. As upbeat music played from speakers, they could take a picture in front of a spooky Halloween-themed backdrop, guess how many cheese balls and leaves were in jars for a prize, purchase school merchandise from the PTA, and greet Principal Amanda Sagnelli and Assistant Principal Nathaniel Marner.
“We’re hosting this event to make that connection with our virtual students,” Principal Sagnelli said. The students wore masks for the duration of the event and were separated safely on the sidewalk. All were excited to be back on the school grounds for the afternoon.
