Elmont Union Free School District

On the beautiful, sunny morning of Sept. 3, Elmont Union Free School District officially welcomed scholars back for the first day of the 2025-2026 school year. Excitement filled the air as buses arrived, friends reunited after summer break and the familiar buzz of learning returned to classrooms across the district.

With backpacks on shoulders and school supplies in hand, scholars from kindergarten through sixth grade arrived at school and were eagerly greeted by their principals, assistant principals and new teachers. The youngest learners in pre-K began their academic journey on Sept. 4.

As the scholars smiled for first-day photos and exchanged waves with their families, they stepped into the new school year eager to learn, grow and thrive.

Superintendent of Schools Marlon C. Small is excited for another successful year in Elmont. “As we begin the 2025-2026 school year, we renew our shared purpose to support every child academically, socially and emotionally,” he said. Our goal remains to cultivate a school culture rooted in excellence, equity and care, a culture where our scholars are empowered to succeed in school and beyond in an ever-changing world.”
