The Elmont Union Free School District offers a variety of healthy meal choices for breakfast and lunch to all students through its participation in the National School Lunch and Breakfast programs. Nutritious meals meeting the dietary guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture are served daily. All children in school will receive meals at no charge regardless of household income due to the District’s participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program. This program allows us to offer free and reduced meal benefits to students that qualify through an application process.
The Elmont UFSD school meals will continue to strive to be in compliance with the meal pattern and nutrition standards as per the USDA as follows:
- All of our sandwiches are served on whole grain-rich bread and buns. We will continue to offer whole grain-rich brown rice, whole wheat pasta for the upcoming school year.
- We have been serving fat-free and 1% milk choices for several years now.
- None of the foods served in EUFSD school meals contain trans-fat.
- We make a conscious effort to provide meals that meet the first round of the sodium limits.
Beginning February 1, 2024, all students enrolled in the Elmont Union Free School District will be eligible to receive a reimbursable meal at no cost to your household. This is due to the most recent modification to the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) by the State and Federal government. Prepayments to your child/children’s account are encouraged. Payments can be made at your child/children’s school, at the School Meals Office, or through the District's Online payment system, MySchoolBucks.com. Through this online system, parents have the ability to set up their accounts for their child's meals. This system will allow the parent to pay for their child's lunch balance, view their purchase transaction history and track what they've been purchasing from the school cafeteria.
Nutrition meetings are held at the Administration Building. Feel free to contact the School Meals office to confirm the meeting. Menu planning meetings are conducted with our head cooks which also take place once a month at the same location.
Please contact the School Meals Office if you should have any questions or suggestions.
School Lunch and Breakfast Information
The Elmont School District participates in the National School Lunch and Breakfast programs. Nutritious meals meeting dietary guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture are served daily. Free and reduced meals are available for families meeting income guidelines established by the USDA. Applications are mailed at the beginning of August to every registered family to determine eligibility for these meals. They are also available at your school in September and throughout the school year. Breakfast is served approximately one-half (1/2) hour before school begins. The breakfast meal consists of 2 grains, fruit, and milk. A school lunch consists of protein, vegetable and/or fruit, whole grains, and/or milk. A-la-carte items are available for purchase. Under no circumstances can an a-la-carte item be charged. Outstanding balances on student accounts must be satisfied. You can make payments/deposits to student accounts as well as monitor your child(ren)’s purchases through the online payment system, My School Bucks.
Our goal is to continue providing free meals to all students beyond the upcoming school year, but we need your help. We need families to submit the CEP Household Income Eligibility Form when received. This form is to determine eligibility for additional State and Federal program benefits that your child(ren) may qualify for.
If you need to check on your child(ren)’s account or have questions, please contact our office at 516-434-2025.
