District Partners with Plaza Theatrical for ‘Frozen Jr.’

Fifth and sixth grade scholars in the Elmont Union Free School District are taking audiences to Arendelle and “letting it go” in their production of “Disney’s Frozen Jr.”
The district partnered with local theater organization, Plaza Theatrical, this year to launch its first after-school theater program for fifth and sixth graders.
From auditions to opening night curtain call, these young actors are getting into the full theater experience and discovering the joy of bringing a story to life on stage. During rehearsals, students mastered the art of blocking as they learned where to stand, when to move and how to share the stage with their fellow actors. Between run-throughs, the young performers practiced their lines with growing confidence, transforming from script-readers into a fully embodied cast of characters.
With infectious enthusiasm, the cast mastered beloved hits such as “In Summer,” “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” and the show-stopping “Let It Go,” transforming the auditorium into their own winter wonderland.
The first show, held on Oct. 24, was performed by Clara H. Carlson and Dutch Broadway schools. The next two performances, featuring Alden Terrace, Covert Avenue, Gotham Avenue and Stewart Manor, will be on Nov. 21 and Feb. 6.
