Nassau County Police Detectives’ Association Donates Over 100 Coats to Elmont Scholars

Each year, the Elmont Union Free School District benefits from the remarkable generosity of the Nassau County Police Detectives’ Association through its annual Coats for Kids drive, an initiative that helps ensure every student has a warm coat for the winter season.
Organized by the Pupil Personnel Services team, led by Interim Director Ozlem Artukmac and Assistant Director Helisse Palmore, the initiative brought together school social workers and local detectives to identify and fulfill the specific needs of scholars in each building. Thanks to their collaboration, the district received a generous delivery of 117 coats in various sizes, colors and styles to best suit students’ needs.
On Nov. 3, student representatives from all six schools joined together at the PPS office for a special gathering to celebrate the donations. During the event, they greeted NCPD DAI President William Bourguignon, First Vice President Chris Kelly, Second Vice President Ryan Lunt and Trustee Sean Keeffe, accepting the coats on behalf of their classmates.
