Gotham Avenue School Fourth Graders Explore Belmont Park

Gotham Avenue School’s fourth grade scholars recently had the exciting opportunity to visit the Belmont Park backstretch for a hands-on learning experience beyond the classroom! Guided by Robert Hines, New York Racing Association’s Community affairs manager, students explored various areas of the racetrack and gained insight into the day-to-day operations of this iconic venue. During the trip, students observed a blacksmith crafting horseshoes, learned about the care and management of the many horses housed at the facility, and engaged with veterinarians to better understand horse health. A highlight of the day was the chance for students to safely interact with and pet the horses, making the experience even more memorable. This experience helped students recognize Belmont Park as an important part of our local community, offering a real-world connection to the people, careers and traditions right here where students live.
