Stewart Manor School Celebrates Earth Day with First Recycled Sculpture Contest

To celebrate Earth Day and promote environmental awareness, Stewart Manor School hosted its inaugural Recycled Sculpture Contest.
Participating students in pre-K through sixth grade created two- and three-dimensional works of art using recycled materials, such as cardboard boxes, Styrofoam, newspapers, plastic bottles and cans. Each design incorporated one or more of the three Rs: reduce, reuse and recycle.
Scholars were eager to participate, and the projects showcased students’ creativity and imagination. Highlights included a model of the Taj Mahal, a rotary phone, a robot and NASA astronauts. Classroom votes determined one or two winners per class, and the selected pieces were proudly displayed in the main hallway.
