Dutch Broadway School’s First Grade Classes Enjoy Visit from Local Dentist

Learning to keep one’s pearly whites healthy and clean turned out to be a fun activity for Dutch Broadway School’s first grade students during a special visit from local dentist Dr. Christopher Pae on June 16.
Dr. Pae began his presentation by engaging students with questions such as, “What does a dentist do?” “What foods and drinks contain a lot of sugar?” and “How many times a day do you brush your teeth?” The interactive discussion encouraged students to think about their daily dental habits and the importance of maintaining a healthy smile. He referred to cavities as “sugar bugs,” making students aware of how eating healthy foods can stop them from coming.
Students also participated in hands-on demonstrations, learning proper brushing techniques using a tooth model and practicing flossing through a fun activity in which students acted as teeth while their classmates demonstrated how floss works.
At the conclusion of the presentation, each student received a complimentary toothbrush along with valuable information about caring for their teeth at home.
