Children who will be turning 4 by December 31st are eligible to attend the Elmont UFSD Pre-K Program. The Pre-K Program is provided through state grant funding. The Pre-K Program is a full-day program Monday through Friday, with two pre-K classes in each of our six district schools.  Children must be registered in the Elmont School District in order to attend the Pre-Kindergarten program.

In addition, a Universal Pre-K program in liaison with community child care centers is also made available to families of eligibility. This program is also provided through state grant funding. Please contact the Early Childhood Education Office for more information if you are interested, as availability is limited.

COMMITTEE ON PRESCHOOL SPECIAL EDUCATION

The Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) is committed to assisting youngsters who have suspected developmental delays. If your preschool child is not developing skills such as walking, talking or playing with other children, you may want to speak with your family doctor. The doctor may be able to assure you that all children develop at different rates and that your child is within the normal developmental scales. If, however, the doctor is concerned or you are still not comfortable with your child's progress, you may make a referral to the Committee on Preschool Special Education.
